SSC CGL 2026 Eligibility
- A bachelor's degree from a recognised university, held by 1 August 2026. Final-year students could apply if they qualify by that date.
- Junior Statistical Officer: any degree with at least 60% in Mathematics in Class 12, or Statistics as a degree subject. Statistical Investigator Grade-II: a degree in Statistics, Maths, Economics, Computer Science or another subject listed in the notice.
- Age limits differ by post, counted on 1 August 2026: most posts are 18–27, 18–30 or 20–30, and a few are 18–32.
- Assistant Audit Officer (State Cadre) and similar state-cadre posts also need proficiency in the state's regional language at Class 10 level.
SSC CGL 2026 Selection Process
- Tier-I: computer-based test, 100 questions for 200 marks in 1 hour; 0.50 marks deducted per wrong answer. Used for shortlisting.
- Tier-II Paper-I (all posts): Section I maths and reasoning (180 marks) and Section II English and general awareness (210 marks), then a qualifying computer knowledge test and a data entry speed test.
- Tier-II Paper-II Statistics (JSO and SI Grade-II only) and Paper-III Finance and Economics (AAO/AAO only), each 200 marks in 2 hours.
- Final merit and post allotment by merit and your post preferences, followed by document verification.

How to Apply for SSC CGL 2026
- Create or use your One-Time Registration (OTR) on ssc.gov.in or the mySSC app.
- Fill the CGL 2026 application and your post preferences carefully; they decide which posts you can be allotted.
- Pay ₹100 online (UPI, net banking or debit card) unless you are exempt: women, SC, ST, PwBD and ex-servicemen pay nothing.
- Applications closed on 22 June 2026 at 11 pm and fee payment on 23 June 2026 at 11 pm. The correction window was 29 June to 1 July 2026.

SSC CGL 2026 posts and vacancies
SSC CGL fills graduate-level Group B and Group C posts across central ministries, departments and offices. The notice lists about 12,256 tentative vacancies; SSC posts the updated post-wise and category-wise numbers on its website, but does not collect state-wise or zone-wise figures. Posts run from Pay Level-4 (₹25,500–81,100), such as Postal Assistant, Tax Assistant and Upper Division Clerk, up to Level-8 (₹47,600–1,51,100) for Assistant Audit Officer and Assistant Accounts Officer.
Qualification for different CGL posts
For most posts any bachelor's degree is enough, and final-year students could apply as long as they qualify by 1 August 2026. Junior Statistical Officer needs at least 60% in Class 12 Mathematics or Statistics as a degree subject, while Statistical Investigator Grade-II needs a degree in Statistics, Maths, Economics, computer science or a related subject listed in the notice. State-cadre audit posts also need Class 10-level proficiency in the state's language.
Age limit post-wise
Age is counted on 1 August 2026, and the limit depends on the post. Many Level-4 posts, such as Tax Assistant and Postal Assistant, are 18 to 27; audit and accounts officer posts are 18 to 30; some posts are 20 to 30; and a few are 18 to 32. SC and ST candidates get 5 extra years and OBC 3, so check the limit of each post in your preference list.
SSC CGL 2026 Tier-I and Tier-II pattern
Tier-I has 100 questions for 200 marks in one hour, 25 each on reasoning, general awareness, quantitative aptitude and English, with 0.50 marks lost per wrong answer. Tier-II Paper-I is compulsory for everyone: a maths and reasoning section worth 180 marks, an English and general awareness section worth 210 marks, a qualifying computer knowledge test and a data entry speed test. Wrong answers in these sections cost 1 mark. Separate 200-mark papers in Statistics and in Finance and Economics are only for JSO/SI-II and audit officer candidates.
Fee and important dates
The fee was ₹100, and women, SC, ST, PwBD and ex-servicemen candidates did not have to pay. Online applications closed on 22 June 2026 at 11 pm, the fee could be paid until 23 June, and corrections were allowed from 29 June to 1 July 2026. Tier-I was planned for August–September 2026 and Tier-II for December 2026.
