SBI Clerk 2026 vacancies state-wise

SBI has advertised 7,680 regular Junior Associate vacancies, with separate backlog vacancies on top. They are spread across states: Maharashtra has 1,718, Tamil Nadu 1,410, Odisha 1,100 and Karnataka 760, while Uttar Pradesh (Lucknow circle) has 250. Merit lists are drawn state-wise and category-wise, and selected candidates are posted in the state they applied for.

Age limit and qualification

You must be 20 to 28 years old on 1 April 2026, which means born between 2 April 1998 and 1 April 2006. OBC candidates get 3 more years, SC/ST 5 and PwBD 10. A graduate degree in any subject is enough, and final-year students could apply as long as they pass by 31 December 2026.

One state and the local language rule

Each candidate applies for one state or UT only and must know its local language, for example Hindi for Uttar Pradesh or Marathi for Maharashtra. If you did not study that language in Class 10 or 12, you take a language test after the main exam, before joining. There is no transfer to another state in the first five years of service.

SBI Clerk 2026 exam pattern

The prelims has 100 questions in one hour: 30 English, 35 numerical ability and 35 reasoning, each with its own 20-minute timer. The mains has 190 questions for 200 marks in 2 hours 40 minutes, covering general and financial awareness, general English, quantitative aptitude, and reasoning with computer aptitude. Every wrong answer costs a quarter of that question's marks.

Salary and fee

The basic pay is ₹26,730, which includes two advance increments for graduates, and SBI puts the starting monthly pay in a metro such as Mumbai at around ₹46,000 with allowances. The application fee was ₹750 for General, OBC and EWS candidates and nil for SC, ST, PwBD and ex-servicemen; registration ran from 11 to 31 August 2026.
