BPSC 71st CCE Eligibility
- Mains was open only to candidates declared successful in the Integrated 71st prelims, who had to apply online again for the mains.
- A graduate degree or equivalent, with all certificates dated on or before the prelims application deadline of 30 June 2025.
- Minimum age is 20 to 22 depending on the post (for example 20 for DSP and 22 for Deputy Collector).
- Reservation, including 35% for women, applies only to original residents of Bihar, with certificates issued by the Bihar government.

- Preliminary exam (held 13 September 2025) for shortlisting.

- Fill in your post preferences (service/post codes from Table I and II of the advertisement); a post not listed in your preferences cannot be claimed later.

- Download the submitted form, sign it in blue ink in Hindi and English, and keep it with copies of your certificates for the interview.

BPSC 71st CCE posts and pay
The Integrated 71st Combined Competitive Examination covers 1,298 posts across Bihar government departments. The largest groups are 502 Cooperative Extension Officers and 459 Block Minority Welfare Officers, followed by 100 Deputy Collectors or Senior Deputy Collectors in the Bihar Administrative Service, 79 Financial Administrative Officers and 45 Revenue Officers. Senior posts such as Deputy Collector and DSP are at Pay Level-9, most officer posts at Level-7, and Block Minority Welfare Officer at Level-6.
Prelims and who could apply for mains
The prelims was held on 13 September 2025 at 912 centres in all 37 districts, with 3,16,905 candidates taking it. The result declared 13,368 candidates successful, and the mains advertisement of December 2025 invited applications from 14,261 successful candidates. They applied again online between 3 and 24 December 2025, with no fee for the mains.
BPSC 71st mains exam pattern
For most posts the mains has four compulsory papers of three hours each: General Hindi for 100 marks, which you must pass with 30% but which is not counted in merit, and General Studies I, General Studies II and an Essay for 300 marks each. You also take one optional subject as a 100-question objective paper of two hours, which is qualifying only. Financial Administrative Officer candidates instead take a 300-mark descriptive optional paper in commerce, economics, mathematics or statistics that counts towards merit.
Qualifying marks, interview and final merit
In the mains you must score at least 40% if general, 36.5% if BC, 34% if EBC, and 32% if SC/ST, a woman or PwD. About two and a half times the vacancies are then called for a 120-mark interview. The final merit list is out of 1,020 marks, and ties are broken first by mains marks, then optional subject marks, then age, and finally Devanagari alphabetical order.
Reservation and documents
Reservation benefits, including 35% of posts for women, are available only to original residents of Bihar, and must be backed by certificates from the Bihar government in the prescribed format. All certificates must be dated on or before 30 June 2025, the prelims application deadline, and originals must be shown at the interview. After the interview, selected candidates also have a medical examination by the commission's board.
