Bihar Police Company Commander 2026 Eligibility
- An enrolled and trained Home Guard of the Bihar Home Guard organisation (including those on daily duty allowance and sportspersons), with at least 5 years of service or duty.
- At least 10 years of service still left on the application cut-off date.
- A graduate degree from a recognised university (or an equivalent recognised by the state government) by 1 August 2026.
- Age 24 to 50 years on 1 August 2026, as per the matriculation certificate, for all categories.
- Men, women and third-gender Home Guards can apply; physical standards differ by category and gender.
Bihar Police Company Commander 2026 Selection Process
- Preliminary exam: 100 multiple-choice questions for 200 marks in 2 hours on general knowledge and current affairs. You need at least 30%, and about 20 times the number of vacancies move to the main exam.
- Main exam, Paper 1: General Hindi, 100 questions for 200 marks in 2 hours. You must score 30%, but these marks are not added to the merit list.
- Main exam, Paper 2: general studies, general science, civics, Indian history, geography, mathematics and mental ability, 100 questions for 200 marks in 2 hours. Wrong answers cost 0.2 marks in every paper.
- Physical efficiency test for about 6 times the vacancies (qualifying only), then the final merit list on main exam marks.

How to Apply for Bihar Police Company Commander 2026
- Go to bpssc.bihar.gov.in, open the "Home Guard" tab and click the link for Advt. No. 11/2026.
- Register with a valid mobile number and e-mail ID in your own name. Only one application is allowed per mobile number, and the registration ID and password are sent to it.
- Fill the form carefully: date of birth exactly as in your Class 10 certificate, and the correct reservation category. A wrong category or mismatched details cancel the candidature.
- Pay the ₹100 fee online by net banking, credit or debit card, or UPI. If money is deducted but registration fails, it is refunded after 7 working days.
- Submit only one application by 10 October 2026. If you submit more than one, all of them are rejected.

Who is eligible for Bihar Police Company Commander 2026
This is a special recruitment for people already serving in the Bihar Home Guard organisation, including those on daily duty allowance and sportspersons. You must be enrolled and trained, have completed at least 5 years of service, and still have at least 10 years of service left on the cut-off date. You also need a graduate degree by 1 August 2026 and must be between 24 and 50 years old on that date.
Vacancies and reservation
Of the 65 posts, 27 are unreserved, 10 are for SC, 1 for ST, 11 for EBC, 8 for BC, 6 for EWS and 2 for BC women. Within these, 35% of posts in each category are reserved for women who are native residents of Bihar, and one post is reserved for grandchildren of freedom fighters. EWS candidates need a certificate based on income and assets for the financial year 2025-26.
Height, chest and physical efficiency test
Unreserved and BC men need a height of 165 cm, and EBC, SC and ST men 160 cm. Women of all categories need 155 cm and a minimum weight of 48 kg. Men need a chest of 81 cm expanding to 86 cm (79 to 84 cm for SC and ST).
In the physical test, men run 1.6 km in 6 minutes 30 seconds and women run 1 km in 6 minutes. The high jump (4 feet for men, 3 for women), long jump (12 and 9 feet) and shot put (16 feet with a 16-pound shot, 10 feet with a 12-pound shot) follow, and every event must be cleared separately.
Written exam pattern and merit list
The written exam has two stages. The preliminary exam has 100 questions for 200 marks on general knowledge and current affairs, and you need 30% to move on. The main exam has a qualifying General Hindi paper and a 200-mark general studies paper, each of 100 questions in 2 hours. Every wrong answer costs 0.2 marks. The final merit list is prepared from the main exam, with minimum marks of 40% for general, 36.5% for BC, 34% for EBC and 32% for SC, ST and women.
